Visa Share Price Eases Despite Recent Momentum
Visa (V) has been back in the spotlight recently due to several announcements and its growing presence in stablecoin settlement and blockchain partnerships. The company's recent share price has eased slightly, but it still shows momentum with a 90-day return of 8.77% and a one-year total shareholder return of 5.53%. Visa's three-pillar strategy is yielding results, with Consumer Payments volume growing at 8-9% in constant dollars.
The company's Consumer Payments volume growth is driven by the secular conversion from cash to card payments and cross-border recovery. Meanwhile, its Cross-Border Merchant Services (CMS) segment decelerated from around 20% initially to around 12% by FY30, while Value-Added Services (VAS) sustained 20-25% growth before decelerating to around 15% by FY32 as the business matures.
Pershing Square's recent stake in Visa underlines the company's strength and potential. However, there are also risks, including a potentially tougher outcome for the DOJ antitrust case or faster traction for account-to-account payment rails than assumed.
