Visa's Price Tag: A Toll Booth of Extraordinary Size
Visa (V) is trading at around $367 per share. On the last twelve months of adjusted earnings, the stock trades at about 28.6 times earnings.
This valuation doesn't necessarily mean Visa is expensive; it's possible that the company's margins are waiting to be unlocked.
The payments network has had a good three months, with its shares up 13.2%. Over the past twelve months, the stock returned 8.2%, compared to 18.5% for the S&P 500. Despite this, the shares still sit about 4% below their 52-week high.
Visa's revenue over the trailing twelve months was $44.49 billion, against a market value of around $700.9 billion. This price buys a toll booth of extraordinary size, with payments volume crossing $4 trillion in fiscal Q3 2026 for the first time in the company's history.
Looking ahead to 2027, consensus has earnings growing about 15.6% annually and revenue growing around 11.2%. This assumes profit margins will continue to expand, which could drive up the stock price.
