Peoria Resident Samuel Britten Passes Away at 89
Samuel Britten, a long-time resident of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on an unspecified date. He was born on September 25, 1937, to Samuel O. and Edna (Houser) Williams, but later adopted by his stepfather Cyril Britten.
Britten worked at Caterpillar, Inc for thirty-three years, retiring as a Tinner in 2001. During his retirement, he remained active in the community, serving as a greeter and usher at Bethany Baptist Church, where he was a member, and playing the bagpipes with the Shrine Kiltie Band.
He is survived by his wife Karen Bunch, whom he married on June 24, 1972; three daughters: Tiffany Light, Nanette (Bill) West, and June (Michael) Small; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Barb (Herb) Unkrich; and five nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on September 16, 2026, at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria, with Rev. Ritch Boerckel officiating. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
