Wall Street Rushes to Hire Experts in AI Agent Orchestration
Wall Street banks are embracing AI agents to boost productivity and automate tasks, creating a surge in demand for specific skills. According to Draup, an enterprise hiring data firm, job listings for AI-related roles at banks including JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Capital One jumped 49% this year compared to 2025. The fastest-growing area is agent orchestration, which involves designing agents that work together on a task.
References to agent orchestration skills jumped 1,721% this year, making it 'arguably the hottest skill on Wall Street,' according to Draup CEO Vijay Swaminathan. This skill requires workers with both technical abilities and domain knowledge of specific business or functions, such as trading desks or human resources.
Beyond technical skills, there is a growing emphasis on soft skills like problem-solving, creativity, and being assertive when it comes to deeper understanding of processes. Roles tied to generative AI and agents typically pay more than tech roles elsewhere in finance, with median base salaries of about $190,000 for generative AI managers.
