Wall Street's six-session winning streak came to an end on August 6 as the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted by 343 points, or 0.63%, to close at around 54,005.

This decline marked a significant reversal from the previous day's record high of 53,178, set just three days prior on August 3.

The selloff was not limited to the Dow, with both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also experiencing declines of approximately 0.4%.

IBM led the decliners, dropping 1.89%, while UnitedHealth shed 1.06% and Cisco fell 0.86%.

However, not all sectors were affected equally, with Disney rising 1.71%, Nvidia adding 1.62%, and Merck gaining 1.33%.
