Wall Street's AI Boom Creates New Jobs and Skills
The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in finance is leading to new job opportunities on Wall Street, according to an analysis by enterprise hiring data firm Draup. The company found that job postings referencing 'agent orchestration' increased by a staggering 1,721% this year, making it one of the most sought-after technical skills in finance.
This growth is not limited to model builders, as banks are now looking for 'forward-deployed engineers' who can integrate AI directly into trading desks, compliance units, and back-office operations. These roles typically pay more than tech positions elsewhere in finance, with generative AI managers receiving a median base salary of around $190,000.
The surge in demand for AI-related skills is evident in job postings at major banks like JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and Capital One, which rose by 49% this year compared to 2025, reaching 139,819 listings. This trend suggests that before AI replaces jobs on Wall Street, it is first creating new ones.
