Walmart (WMT) is expanding its contactless payment options to make shopping faster and more convenient for customers. Starting August 24, select Walmart and Sam's Club locations will offer tap-to-pay capabilities using Google Pay, with Apple Pay reportedly also available.

The rollout of contactless payments will initially be limited to a few locations before being expanded nationwide by the end of 2026. Gas stations are expected to have this feature by mid-2027.

This move is part of Walmart's effort to provide customers with more choices in how they pay, according to a press release. 'We want customers and members to have choice in how they pay, so they can check out in the way that works best for them,' the company said.
