Walt Disney World's Costuming Department is a Magic Machine
At Walt Disney World, thousands of cast members wear costumes designed to bring stories to life every day. The resort's costuming department is a massive operation, with over 900 unique costume designs and 746 hat styles.
Michael Sendek, senior manager of Costume Design & Development, said, 'Everything starts with a story.' The team goes back to the basics, asking what story they're trying to tell and who the cast members are supposed to be in that storyline.
The operation is so large that it's the largest wardrobe operation in the world. Over 1,500 costuming cast members work behind the scenes to design, produce, and maintain the wardrobes worn throughout the resort.
