West Seattle Homeless Encampment Cleared Amid Fires and City Ownership
City crews are currently clearing an encampment behind Home Depot in West Seattle. The operation is part of multiple local clearances that Southwest Precinct commander Capt. Krista Bair mentioned during a community-safety meeting last night.
The notorious encampment, which has been plagued by multiple fires, is located on land owned by the city, according to the King County Parcel Viewer.
Capt. Bair did not provide further details about the clearances, but it's clear that the city is taking action to address the issue of homelessness in the area.
