WestJet Prepares for Labor Strike as Flight Attendants Seek Payment for Unpaid Work

WestJet has started parking its Boeing 737 jets ahead of a potential labor strike by flight attendants. The Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents WestJet's cabin crew, is seeking payment for work performed while checking in and out, rather than just during scheduled flights.

The union had set an August 2 deadline for reaching an agreement, but talks have so far been unsuccessful. WestJet says it has made progress, but issues remain to be resolved.

WestJet Encore flights operated on Bombardier's Q400 and codeshare flights operated by partners are unaffected by the dispute.
