Williams Trading Trims Dick's Sporting Goods Price Target Amid Foot Locker Concerns
Williams Trading has cut its price target on Dick's Sporting Goods to $130 from $215 while maintaining a Hold rating. The stock currently trades at $130.79, down 27.7% over the past week and 35.6% over six months.
The firm cited challenges at Dick's Sporting Goods' Foot Locker business, which posted a comparable sales decline of 3.6% in the second quarter of 2026, falling short of consensus estimates of a 0.9% increase.
Williams Trading said an overabundance of basic core lifestyle shoes from Nike (NKE), Adidas, New Balance and other brands is hurting the Foot Locker business. The firm said Dick's Sporting Goods management and Foot Locker leadership do not understand Foot Locker consumers as well as they understand Dick's Sporting Goods consumers.
The President of Foot Locker North America has no experience leading multi-branded retail despite years of experience at Nike, according to Williams Trading. The firm also noted that the President of Foot Locker International has experience leading grocery chains, but this does not qualify them for the role.
