Windows 10 Users Get One-Year Reprieve from Microsoft
Microsoft has quietly extended security support for Windows 10 users until October 12, 2027. Initially, the company had set a deadline of October 13, 2026, but in June it pushed this date by another year.
The extension affects only consumers who have not enrolled their devices in Microsoft's Extended Security Updates (ESU) program. PCs already signed up for ESU will continue to receive updates without any issues.
For those who need to enroll, there are two options: a free route with certain conditions or a one-time purchase of $30. The free option requires users to stay signed in with the same Microsoft account on every additional PC, while the paid route allows them to keep their local account.
