Windows 11 26H2 Extends Support to 2028

Microsoft has started rolling out Windows 11 version 26H2 as a compact enablement package, extending support timelines for businesses and consumers alike. The update, also known as the Windows 11 2026 Update, carries build number 26300.9457 and is being distributed in phases through Windows Update.

For most users, the headline change is support longevity, with Windows 11 26H2 extending servicing to October 10, 2028. Meanwhile, Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro editions will stop receiving updates after October 13, 2026, while Enterprise and Education editions of 24H2 retain support until October 12, 2027.

The update is described as lightweight, primarily extending features already present in the operating system. This applies mainly to Pro editions used by enterprises and educational institutions, which receive the enablement package without a wholesale platform change. Systems running Windows 11 26H1 cannot upgrade to 26H2 because 26H1 uses a different Windows platform designed for current Arm-based systems.
