Windows 11 Patch Breaks USB Audio for Some Users

Microsoft's September Patch Tuesday update has caused problems for some Windows 11 users. The KB5124008 patch, released on September 8, is breaking USB audio functionality on certain systems.

The issue affects devices with USB Audio Class 1.0, which includes a range of audio equipment that may fail to start or produce sound after the update. Symptoms include error messages in Device Manager and unresponsive volume controls.

Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and listed it as a known issue on its support page. However, there is currently no workaround available for affected users.

The company is working on a resolution and will provide an update once more information is available. The issue affects Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2, as well as version 26H1 via update KB5124012.
