Windows 11 September Update Brings Movable Taskbar and Cleaner Search Results
Microsoft has rolled out its September 2026 Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11, bringing several long-awaited features and improvements. The update, which is now available to eligible PCs, includes a movable taskbar and cleaner Search results.
The new taskbar can be moved to any edge of the screen, and users can also choose to shrink its size. This feature has been highly anticipated by Windows 11 users since its launch in 2021. In addition, the Start menu has been redesigned to stop covering a large portion of the vertical screen space on laptops.
The update also includes several other improvements, such as faster Search results and better administrator protection. The new Search UI shows recent searches instead of promotional tiles and trivia, and search results now include labels indicating whether they are app, file, setting, web result, or Store suggestion.
