Wiz Founder Assaf Rappaport Reveals Behind-the-Scenes of $32 Billion Google Acquisition
Assaf Rappaport, founder and CEO of cybersecurity company Wiz, recently shared new details about Google's $32 billion acquisition of his company. The deal went down in history as the largest exit in Israeli high-tech.
Rappaport revealed that he initially received an envelope with a $30 billion offer from Sundar Pichai, Google's CEO. He said no right away, explaining that the initial figure presented is not the final one and it's always best to decline at first.
The path to the record-breaking deal was neither simple nor predictable. Rappaport and his partners had previously received an initial acquisition offer of $23 billion for Wiz, then valued at $12 billion. Although the documents were ready to be signed, they decided to call off the deal due to a 'gut feeling' that it was too soon.
However, about six months later, Pichai urgently summoned Rappaport to a discreet breakfast in New York and handed him the $30 billion offer. This time, Rappaport agreed to consider the proposal, ultimately leading to a final acquisition price of $32 billion for Wiz.
