Xbox Introduces Cloud Gaming Time Limits as Costs Rise

Microsoft's Xbox unit is introducing time limits on cloud gaming for Game Pass subscribers, citing rising costs. The move affects all users of the service, with various tiers of access depending on the type of subscription held.

Players with high-end subscriptions will have access to 15 hours of cloud gaming per month, while those with lower-tier accounts will have 10 or five hours, respectively. Those who exceed these limits can purchase additional hours.

The move reflects a broader effort by Microsoft to charge customers based on usage, rather than offering unlimited access. This approach is similar to that used for its artificial intelligence products, such as GitHub Copilot and the Microsoft 365 Copilot.
