Microsoft's Xbox Series X|S consoles have struggled to gain traction in their home market, the US. A recent survey of 3,200 gamers conducted by Statista found that more players prefer playing on Xbox One than on the latest consoles.

The results show a strong preference for PlayStation consoles, with the PS5 and PS4 leading the pack. Nintendo also remains a major player due to the popularity of Switch and Switch 2. Meanwhile, Microsoft's most recent console generations, including Xbox Series X|S, rank at the bottom.

One notable detail is that Xbox One has a slight lead over Xbox Series X|S among surveyed players. This may indicate poor decisions or changing market trends have impacted the latest consoles' success.

Microsoft is already looking towards the future with Project Helix, a new console generation expected to combine traditional console experience with PC functionality. However, analysts warn that Sony and Microsoft's next-generation consoles could cost at least $1,000.
