Xbox's Radical Restructuring: Nadella Sees Bright Future Amid Layoffs
Microsoft's Xbox division is undergoing significant changes, including job cuts and studio reorganization. In an interview, CEO Satya Nadella expressed optimism about the future of Xbox, stating that the 'streamlining' process is 'great to see.'
Nadella acknowledged that the company has been shedding game developers like Double Fine and Ninja Theory, and reorganizing beloved studios such as id Software. He also mentioned that Halo would be moved from its current studio to Activision teams.
The layoffs, which affected over 1,600 staff in July, are part of a larger plan to redefine the Xbox brand. Nadella stated that the goal is to become a great publisher and platform provider for games across PCs and consoles.
