At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026, Yelp's executives outlined a major shift in strategy as they lean into artificial intelligence to refresh their core platform and build new businesses. The company is moving from a product-led growth phase to what management calls the AI era, with AI now central to product development and distribution.

This strategic shift opens up fresh growth opportunities for Yelp, even as the company still faces weak demand in parts of its local advertising market. With its annualized advertising business at $1.5 billion, Yelp aims to reach a target of $250 million in annualized other revenues by the end of 2028, currently at about $133 million.

The company has launched several AI-powered products and services, including Yelp Assistant, which gives users a chat-style way to access Yelp's business listings and reviews. The Request a Quote flow in ChatGPT uses a Model Context Protocol widget to capture user information and feed it into Yelp's system.
