Afghanistan, Iran Agree on Energy Cooperation Amid Regional Tensions
Afghanistan and Iran have taken steps to strengthen their energy cooperation, particularly in supplying Afghanistan's oil and gas needs. Mullah Ahmad Jan Bilal, head of the General Directorate of State-Owned Corporations, led a delegation to Iran where they met with Iranian Minister of Petroleum Mohsen Paknejad.
The discussions focused on providing technical training for Afghan professionals and exploring joint cooperation in oil exploration. The Afghan delegation also visited the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum's research center and oil refineries in Tehran, gaining insights into their capabilities.
Paknejad expressed his country's readiness to implement comprehensive cooperation with Afghanistan in the areas discussed. A joint technical team will be established to oversee the coordination and implementation of these initiatives.
