Atlas Secures $15 Million Royalty Deal in Alberta Foothills
Atlas Energy Corp has made its first investment by securing a C$15 million acquisition of a gross overriding royalty on Caledonian Midstream Corp's producing oil and gas assets in the Southwest Alberta Foothills.
The deal marks a significant milestone for Atlas, providing a Canadian cash-flow base for its royalty and streaming strategy. The TSX Venture Exchange has approved the transaction and accepted Atlas's exit from the TSXV Sandbox, effective September 29, 2026.
According to Atlas, the royalty is forecast to generate approximately C$6 million in before-tax cash flow in the first year, with payout of the initial investment expected in roughly three years. This is supported by existing production and planned reactivation of two oil wells in December 2026.
The deal also includes contracted sulphur revenues under a long-term offtake agreement, material upside from additional reactivations and drilling not in the base case. Atlas will retain about C$9.3 million in pro forma cash after the transaction, strengthening its financial position as it pursues larger international opportunities.
