Bank of Ghana Appoints Deputy Governor as Representative on GoldBod Board
The Governor of Bank of Ghana has appointed Second Deputy Governor Matilda Asante-Asiedu as his representative on the Board of Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
This decision comes amid renewed scrutiny over the Governor's membership on the GoldBod Board and concerns about the relationship between the central bank and the state-owned gold trading institution.
The appointment is effective from May 11, 2026, and Asante-Asiedu is authorized to attend and fully participate in meetings of the GoldBod board on behalf of the Governor.
This move aims to address concerns about potential conflicts of interest, as previously raised by former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam.
