Buffett Bows Out: Dow Drops Amid Yields and Netflix Plunge
The US stock market opened mixed on Friday morning, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling 93 points to 0.18%. The S&P 500 was little changed, up about 0.1%, while the Nasdaq Composite ticked up 0.33%.
The previous day's rebound, which saw stocks bounce back hard after the Fed's first rate hike in three years rattled markets on Wednesday, continued into Thursday with the Dow rising 316.14 points to close at 51,778.04.
Falling Treasury yields and cooling oil prices helped drive the rebound, alongside gains in Nvidia, Amazon, and Microsoft.
However, elevated yields are weighing on stocks again this morning, even after Thursday's relief rally.
Berkshire Hathaway announced that Warren Buffett is stepping down as chairman, with his son Howard Buffett taking over. This news may put pressure on Berkshire's shares today, according to analyst Meyer Shields.
