Casper Gas Prices Hold Steady as Wyoming Average Climbs

Casper gas prices have remained relatively stable over the past week, according to AAA data. In Natrona County, prices averaged $4.21 per gallon on Monday, which is roughly the same as last week's average. The statewide average in Wyoming rose by 2 cents to around $4.49 per gallon.

The national average, tracked by both AAA and GasBuddy, remained at $4.47 per gallon. However, the national figure is still 35.9 cents higher than a month ago and $1.34 higher than this time last year. The national average price of diesel fell 4.1 cents over the past week to about $6.45 per gallon.

Patrick De Haun, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, notes that prices dropped in more than half of U.S. states over the past week. This was largely due to refinery issues on the West Coast and oil refinery restarts in other regions. The broader geopolitical situation remains fluid and could push prices in either direction with little warning.

Crude oil prices surged Monday after President Donald Trump rejected a seven-day proposal from Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. This caused West Texas Intermediate crude to jump $2.44 to $94.85 per barrel, while Brent crude gained $2.55 to reach $106.87 per barrel.
