The US-based energy company Cheniere Energy has announced a long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) deal with Petrobras, Brazil's state-owned oil and gas giant.

The agreement, which spans over two decades, will see Petrobras purchase approximately 0.8 million tonnes per annum of LNG from Cheniere Marketing on a free-on-board basis.

This deal is significant as it solidifies Cheniere's position as a leading global LNG provider and provides commercial support for the company's brownfield liquefaction capacity growth.

Petrobras has been augmenting its energy arsenal, with recent discoveries of hydrocarbons in the Morpho well located offshore Amapá within the Amazon River mouth sedimentary basin.
