Corn Prices Stabilize Amid Trade Uncertainty
Corn futures have staged a partial recovery from their early lows on Friday, with prices still down slightly but trending upwards. The commodity's national average Cash Corn price has dropped by just 1 cent to $4.83, which is better than the initial decline of over a dime.
One reason for the turnaround may be related to the lack of detailed information released about the US-China trade talks this week. According to reports, USTR Greer was seeking further details on Monday, which could have an impact on corn prices.
The weather forecast is also a factor, with heavy rains expected in the next week across various regions including Texas and the Great Lakes. This could affect planting and harvesting activities, potentially influencing demand for corn.
Corn export commitments are another important metric to watch, with total sales of 18.238 MMT recorded on Thursday - down by 29% from last year but still accounting for 22% of the USDA's projection.
