Drone Attack Sparks Fire at Moscow Oil Refinery

A drone attack on Moscow's Gazpromneft-MNPZ oil refinery sparked a fire and thick smoke on September 19-20, causing damage to facilities at the site.

Russian air defense systems engaged the drones during the attack, but several of them reached their targets, including the refinery.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that the refinery's facilities were damaged in the attack.

The Moscow Oil Refinery is one of the main producers of fuel for Moscow and the Moscow region, with a processing capacity of about 11 million metric tons of crude oil per year.

It supplies approximately 40% of Moscow's fuel market and about 70% of the Moscow region's needs for gasoline and jet fuel.
