EBA Warns of Rising Russian Grain Exports via Baltic Ports
The European Business Association (EBA) has urged Ukraine to increase diplomatic efforts with Baltic states and EU bodies to limit Russian grain exports via Baltic Sea ports. The association warns that disruptions at Black Sea and Azov Sea ports may push Russian exporters to shift shipments to Baltic routes, potentially affecting global markets.
The EBA also raised concerns about the risk of relabeling, blending, or hiding the origin of agricultural products, including those from occupied Ukrainian territories. Expanded Russian export routes could intensify competition for Ukrainian suppliers globally.
Several Baltic countries are already considering stricter controls on Russian agricultural transit. Ukrainian businesses support these measures and call for EU-wide coordination. The EBA emphasizes the need to prevent new logistics infrastructure that could help Russian exporters bypass restrictions and boost grain and oilseed exports through the Baltic region.
