Global energy markets are undergoing a significant shift as countries focus on securing their supply chains. For decades, competition centered around production, but now success depends on more than just extracting energy.

Countries are investing heavily in shipping fleets, export terminals, storage facilities, and logistics networks to ensure energy reaches global markets efficiently. The demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) is growing, prompting nations to seek control over the entire supply chain.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, and the United States are making significant investments in their energy infrastructure. ADNOC Logistics & Services ordered four additional next-generation LNG carriers worth approximately US$900 million, expanding its global energy logistics network. Each new carrier will have a capacity of 175,000 cubic meters.

QatarEnergy is also modernizing its LNG shipping fleet with higher-efficiency, dual-fuel vessels to support the expansion of LNG production capacity from 77 million tonnes per annum to 110 MTPA through the North Field East project. The company has invested heavily in new LNG carriers to ensure sufficient transport capacity for future exports.

The United States has emerged as one of the world's largest LNG exporters, with sustained investment in export terminals along the Gulf Coast. China is also building logistics to strengthen its energy security, with 57 vessels on order from Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding by the end of January 2026.
