Equinor Aims for 11-16.5M Tons LNG Portfolio by Early 2030s
Norwegian energy company Equinor plans to more than double its liquefied natural gas supply portfolio by the early 2030s, targeting buyers in Europe and Asia. The company aims to reach between 11 million and 16.5 million U.S. tons per year, up from the current 3.86 million U.S. tons.
Equinor's vice president for LNG, Ingvar Egeland, confirmed that a second Asian supply agreement is ready to be announced, which will help the company hit its expansion target. The company has already signed a 15-year LNG supply deal with India's Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Corp.
The focus on state energy companies and fertilizer producers in India and Southeast Asia reflects where the urgent demand actually sits. These aren't speculative future customers - they have real, near-term needs, making them attractive partners for a company trying to lock in long-term supply commitments.
