Evolution Mining Focuses on Margin and Copper Growth at Mining Forum Americas 2026
Evolution Mining outlined its strategy at the Mining Forum Americas 2026, focusing on margin, cash flow, and selective growth. The company's portfolio has been reshaped over the past decade, with current assets acquired since 2015 playing a larger role in earnings and future expansion.
The last original asset, Mount Rawdon, will move to care and maintenance next quarter. Evolution reported five-year production growth of 6% a year on average, rising from 680,000 to 920,000 gold equivalent ounces, with FY2026 output of 890,000 ounces after weather disruption at Ernest Henry.
Copper now accounts for 22% of revenue, and management sees further growth from Ernest Henry and Northparkes as global copper demand rises. The company's gearing fell from 33% in FY2023 to a net cash position by the end of FY2026, while the dividend payout ratio was lifted from 50% to 60% of group cash flow.
Cowal, one of Evolution's largest production assets, has generated over AUD 5 billion of operating cash flow since its acquisition in 2015. The asset is expected to extend mining by 10 years with the open pit continuation project and create opportunities at E41, E46, and underground.
