Filipino Sailors Killed in Attack on Oil Tanker in Strategic Waterway

Two Filipino sailors were killed in an attack on an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Saudi Arabia's national shipping company Bahri. The incident occurred late on August 31.

The oil tanker, SIDR, was involved in a security incident while transiting the strategic waterway, Bahri confirmed on X. Two unidentified projectiles struck the ship, resulting in the loss of two Filipino seafarers.

This latest violence comes amidst ongoing tensions between the US and Iran, with both sides engaging in a blockade-counter-blockade standoff. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical waterway for global oil trade, with over 20% of the world's crude passing through it each day.
