The national average gas price has hit $4.14, up 4 cents from last week, as Labor Day weekend travelers face record-high prices at the pump.

This milestone marks a new record for the entire month, with crude oil prices reaching $90 per barrel due to continued volatility in the Strait of Hormuz.

The current Labor Day record is $3.82, set on September 3, 2012, but this year's average has already surpassed that mark.
