Ghalibaf Warns Bessent Over Oil Reserves and Bond Yields
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has expressed concern over the economic policies of the U.S. administration, citing declining strategic oil reserves and rising Treasury yields.
In a message addressed to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Ghalibaf warned that continued large-scale withdrawals from U.S. strategic oil reserves could create serious challenges for the country's energy security and storage capacity.
Ghalibaf pointed out that global markets are closely monitoring these developments, particularly in light of recent disruptions in energy markets that have pushed stockpiles to their lowest levels in decades.
