Gold Edges Up as Dollar Softens Ahead of Key US Jobs Data
Gold prices rose slightly on Wednesday due to a softer US dollar, while investors awaited key US jobs data for clues on the Federal Reserve's next monetary policy move.
The spot price of gold increased by 0.1% to $4,081.09 per ounce, as of 0040 GMT, while US gold futures fell 0.4% to $4,137.20.
The US dollar remained subdued, making dollar-priced gold more attractive to holders of other currencies.
Attention will center on the US July payrolls report, due on Friday, which could provide insight into the Fed's decision-making process.
