In a recent tweet, Grassley stated that high diesel prices are 'killing farmers' income' and proposed that Trump put an embargo on diesel exports, similar to those implemented in the 1970s to stabilize food prices.

However, critics have panned Grassley's proposal, with several calling him a 'coward' for not tagging President Trump directly in his tweet. Others accused him of trying to shift responsibility rather than addressing the issue through legislation.

Grassley's suggestion comes as the Senate Agriculture Committee advanced the farm bill, which includes provisions for the permanent, year-round nationwide sale of E15 gasoline. While this could benefit corn growers and reduce gasoline prices, it would not directly lower diesel prices.
