Hormuz LNG Traffic Rebounds Despite US-Iran Conflict Risks

The Strait of Hormuz has seen a resurgence in liquefied natural gas (LNG) traffic, despite the ongoing US-Iran conflict. Data from Kpler and LSEG shows that more QatarEnergy-linked LNG vessels have resumed visible transits through the strategic waterway.

This is a notable increase after a sharp drop in August when no visible transits by Qatar-linked LNG vessels or ships carrying cargo from Qatar's Ras Laffan gas terminal were recorded. Some vessels may still be using the strait without appearing in tracking data, a practice known as 'dark transits.'

The latest vessel to reappear was the GasLog Skagen, which was tracked off Sri Lanka on Sunday carrying a cargo from Ras Laffan.
