Houthi Rebels Launch Surprise Attack on Saudi Oil Facilities
Yemen's Houthi rebels, backed by Iran, launched a surprise attack on Saudi Arabian oil facilities on July 25. The group targeted sites operated by the Saudi oil company Aramco in Jizan and Yanbu.
The attack was announced by Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesman, who stated that the group would escalate their response if Saudi Arabia retaliates.
The Greek Air Force confirmed that an anti-aircraft battery operated by Greek personnel on Saudi territory shot down two ballistic missiles and a drone launched from Yemen. The Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of 'dangerous escalation' following Friday's attacks on Houthi targets in Yemen.
