Houthis Claim Attacks on Saudi Airports and Oil Facility
Yemen’s Houthi group announced on Monday evening that it had launched three military operations against multiple targets in Saudi Arabia. The group claimed the attacks involved a mix of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones, targeting two airports, an oil facility, and military sites.
According to Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree, the first operation struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, disrupting air traffic. The second targeted a refinery operated by state oil company Aramco in Rabigh, in the Mecca region, with Saree claiming the attack caused a fire. The third operation involved Abha Airport, the Khamis Mushait base, and Akfa camp in the Asir region, along with other “sensitive sites” in Najran and Jazan.
Saree stated that the attacks were in retaliation for 60 Saudi airstrikes and missile attacks over the preceding 24 hours, targeting Sanaa and several Yemeni provinces. He claimed the total number of airstrikes and missile attacks since the escalation began had reached 1,576.
Saree also issued a warning to international airlines using Saudi airspace, advising them to halt flights except over the cities of Mecca and Medina. Saudi authorities had not commented on the Houthi claims at the time of the statement.
