Houthis Escalate Drone Attacks on Saudi-Backed Yemeni Forces

The Iran-backed Houthi forces have escalated their attacks on Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces and vehicles in multiple fronts across Yemen. According to footage released by the Houthis, explosives were dropped by drones targeting government forces and vehicles.

This comes after a years-long truce ended in July, with the Houthi group declaring a maritime blockade and seizing control of Yemen's entire Red Sea coast. The goal is reportedly to stifle Saudi oil exports.

Yemen's civil war began in 2014 when the Houthis seized the capital Sanaa. A Saudi-led coalition stepped in the following year to support the government, led by Rashad al-Alimi and the Presidential Leadership Council.
