Houthis Launch Drone, Missile Strikes on Riyadh
The Houthis in Yemen claimed responsibility for drone and ballistic missile attacks on Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital. The strikes also targeted energy sites along the Red Sea coast. Saudi authorities intercepted a ballistic missile fired at Riyadh earlier that day.
A column of black smoke was seen rising from fuel tanks near Riyadh's international airport, causing flights to be disrupted temporarily. Air raid alerts sounded in the capital for the first time since July.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya al-Sarea said a 'large number' of ballistic and cruise missiles and drones were used to attack 'sensitive sites' in Riyadh and Aramco oil facilities on the coast.
