IGM Financial Pushes into New Markets with AI-Focused ETF Expansion
IGM Financial has recently introduced four new ETFs through its Mackenzie Investments division. These ETFs, which are managed by IGM's Multi-Asset Strategies Team, combine systematic factor approaches with global exposure and feature a gold futures overlay on one of the equity products.
This move marks part of IGM Financial's broader transformation efforts, which include investing in artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. The company is attempting to broaden its toolkit beyond traditional Canadian mutual funds and incorporate factor rules, as well as add a gold futures overlay to cater to diversification-focused clients.
The success of these ETFs will be closely watched by investors, particularly with regards to fund uptake, asset under management (AUM) traction, and fee levels. If the adoption of these new products is strong, it could help offset fee compression and slower expected revenue growth for IGM Financial. However, if the ETFs fail to gain traction in a highly competitive global market, it may exacerbate the company's challenges.
Analysts expect IGM Financial's revenue to remain fairly flat over the next three years, with earnings increasing from CA$1.2 billion to CA$1.4 billion by 2029. While some estimates suggest IGM Financial's fair value indicates a potential upside of up to 10% from its current price, others cluster tightly between CA$87 and CA$92, indicating no extreme under or overvaluation.
