India Raises Rabi Crop Prices, Unveils ₹1.86 Lakh Crore Green Energy Plan
The Indian government has decided to raise the minimum support prices (MSP) for Rabi crops, which include wheat, safflower, rapeseed-mustard, and lentils. The MSP for wheat was increased by ₹25 per quintal.
The highest increase was seen in safflower, with a price hike of ₹675 per quintal. Rapeseed-mustard also saw a significant increase of ₹413, while lentils rose by ₹390 per quintal.
In addition to the MSP hikes, the government has approved the Green Energy Corridor Phase III scheme, which will cost ₹1,86,405 crore. The scheme aims to develop an intra-state transmission system for up to 135 GW of renewable energy and install large-scale batteries to store electricity generated during the day for use at night.
The Green Energy Corridor is designed to ensure an uninterrupted supply of clean electricity to households across the country. It will also help prevent power losses, end power cuts in homes, and provide a continuous supply of affordable and clean electricity 24 hours a day.
