India Resumes Wheat Exports to Bangladesh Amid Black Sea Disruptions

Bangladesh has resumed large-scale imports of Indian wheat after India lifted its export ban in late August.

The move comes amid disruptions to Black Sea grain supplies and higher global wheat prices, which have driven up inflationary pressure in Bangladesh.

According to reports, importers have already booked over 200,000 tons of Indian wheat, marking the first significant purchases since 2022.

India's return to the market is significant because it supplied nearly 70% of Bangladesh's wheat imports before the export ban was imposed in 2022.

The delivered prices for Indian wheat are around $305-$326 per ton, which is well below the price of Australian wheat, currently over $450 per ton.
