Indian Government Mandates 30-Day Rule for Surrendering LPG Connections

The Indian government has introduced a new rule that requires households to terminate their LPG connections within 30 days of obtaining a PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connection. This move aims to provide relief to households who migrate to non-PNG areas.

The amendment, notified on May 25th, 2026, allows customers to surrender their Indane, BharatGas, or HP Gas connections online through the respective websites or mobile applications. Alternatively, they can visit mypngd.in and follow a simple registration process to initiate the cancellation.

According to the new provision, once a household obtains a PNG connection, it is mandatory to end the LPG connection within 30 days. For example, if someone gets a PNG connection fixed on June 6th, they will have to terminate their LPG connections by July 6th.
