Indian Stock Markets Rebound Amid Easing Crude Oil Prices
Stock markets in India saw a rebound on Wednesday as crude oil prices eased, but foreign investor selling remained a concern. The benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty rose in early trade, with Sensex climbing 283.66 points to 74,812.74 and Nifty up by 85.55 points to 23,414.55.
The BSE Sensex firms Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Tata Steel, UltraTech Cement, Larsen & Toubro, and Asian Paints were among the winners in the early trade. However, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, HDFC Bank, and Mahindra & Mahindra lagged behind.
Brent crude oil prices fell 0.97 per cent to USD 98.29 per barrel, offering some relief on the macroeconomic front due to India's dependence on imported energy. Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, said that the moderation in crude prices is a positive sign but foreign investor selling remains a key headwind for domestic equities.
Asian markets saw mixed results, with South Korea's Kospi trading positively while Shanghai's SSE Composite index and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index fell.
