Libya and South Korea Explore Oil Refining Partnership

South Korean companies have proposed cooperating on crude oil refining in Libya to help meet local demand for gasoline and diesel. The proposal was discussed during the Libyan-Korean Economic Cooperation Forum, held in Tripoli on September 28, 2026.

The cooperation would involve exploring the possibility of allocating part of Libya's crude oil production for future export to South Korea. Major South Korean companies, including LG, Samsung, and Hyundai, participated in the forum, along with government officials and business leaders.
