Lightning Strike Sparks Fire at Chatham Ethanol Plant

A lightning strike caused a fire at Greenfield Global's ethanol plant in Chatham on Wednesday morning, September 16. The blaze began around midnight and was extinguished by about 8 am.

The fire affected a corn-based ethanol storage tank but did not damage other parts of the facility. No injuries were reported, and all employees are safe.

The incident drew a large response from emergency services, with 13 fire trucks and over 95 personnel involved in the effort to control the blaze.
