Malaysia's palm oil exports to India have seen a significant increase, with volumes up by 40% compared to the same period in 2025. According to recent data, India has imported over 2.26 million tons of Malaysian palm oil through August this year.

This represents almost 18% of Malaysia's total palm oil production, which stood at 12.6 million tons in the first eight months of 2026. The country is aiming to expand its exports beyond crude palm oil and increase shipments of higher-value products such as oleochemicals, specialty fats, food ingredients, and personal-care products.

India remains a key market for Malaysian palm oil, with the country relying on imports to meet around two-thirds of its vegetable oil needs. The total volume of vegetable oil imports in India has exceeded 11.2 million tons through August this year.
